Launch day

Today, at 2:22:45, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket blasted off from Florida to the International Space Station.

There are two astronauts on board, Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken, who are on the first space mission since 2011’s Atlantis.

The NASA space shuttle fleet was retired after Atlantis, and this mission marks the first one by a private company.

I watched with my nieces, my brother-in-law and Daddy.

It is awesome to think how far space travel has come, and where it could soon go.

  1. Casey: I remember way back when we laughed at Buck Rogers and Dick Tracey’s two-way wristwatch. Today we are considering the reality of Star Track etc. Only the good Lord knows what the future holds. We only pray it will be used for the betterment of mankind. Good post. Keep it up.
