Since I love history, I’m embarrassed to answer this question, because my answer is I don’t know.
There were several school projects which required me to make a family tree, but those went back only a few generations.
I’ve gone down research rabbit trails on findagrave.com, but only through the Civil War.
Relatives have put together genealogy books for both sides of my family, but I’m not sure how far back in time they go because I haven’t taken the time to go through them.
The good thing about not knowing is, when I do flip through those books, there’s no telling what I’ll find.

Casey: you awakened memories where I goofed up. I had an uncle who had years of family history in his head. I did not record it. There were also others who had what I should have recorded. I regret I failed to do so. But then you may be right when you suggested there may be things we would not like to know.
