[I] NEED SLEEP.
It’s been a long week.
I’m tired so this post might be short, or it might meander until I drift off into delirium.
I haven’t decided yet.
I have decided it’s a basic human need to not set an alarm on Friday night.
I kid, of course, but it does bring joy.
While we’re on the subject of needs, people have a lot of them.
When we’re hungry, we need food.
When we’re lonely, we need love.
When we’re hurting, we need healing.
This is a little bit of foreshadowing, but I think one of the biggest needs the world has right now is a little more kindness.
People talk a lot about random acts of kindness, which are all well and good, but I don’t think we focus enough on intentional kindness.
Sometimes, it seems to me we’d rather look for the gripe in a situation than try to find the good.
We need to turn things around, and we need to turn them around in a hurry.
We’ve got them backward these days, which is sad.
I don’t want to end the day on a sad note, and I don’t have to because I just remembered I don’t have to set my alarm.
This post is a response to Sue’s prompt, which is, “need.”
Hope you enjoyed sleeping in! Great column!
Thanks! I woke up at 5:13. Haha
Casey: I did not answer last night because I was in bed (ha ha). A great post on kindness. May I suggest a new beatitude “Be ye kind to one another”. Trust you rested well.
I like it. I woke up at 5:13, of course. Haha
