Feels like a win

A good thing happened today.

People on different sides of an argument found common ground, and the world — or at least the sports world — is better for it.

It looks like we’ll see Major League Baseball this year after all.

The coronavirus postponed the season’s start, and at times it looked doubtful the season would be played.

The teams and the players hammered out an agreement today.

The players are scheduled to report to training camp July 1 to begin preparations for a 60-game season.

It’s 102 games less than a normal regular season, but, hey, it’s a season.

Games will begin at the end of next month.

This feels like a welcome bit of normalcy in the middle of a year far from normal.

It feels like a win.

It’s almost time to play ball again.

I can’t wait.

This post is a response to Sue’s prompt, which is “win.”

  1. My husband was just commenting the other day that some sport (sorry, not sure which one) attempted to start back up and then was shut-down again because of an increase in cases amongst the players. Guess we’ll have to see what happens.

    1. I think it was soccer, but I’m not sure. I wonder if they’ll play baseball in masks, like they have in Korea.

  2. Casey: Right on! As a hopeless baseball fan (I played in my younger years) I am waiting on needles and pins. A good post. Keep them coming.

    1. You’re gonna have to tell me that story. Haha. Maybe get a tape recorder and tell your stories to it?
