[T]he new year is upon us, and there are already a few things I’ve noticed.
The first is it is now the third day of January so if I had made a resolution to write a post for this blog on every day of the year I would have already failed. I’m glad I didn’t make one.
The second thing I noticed is have not locked myself out of this blog as I previously thought so that’s really no longer an excuse for me not to write on it more.
The third thing is the last post I wrote for this site is dated Feb. 23, 2013, and that is ridiculous.
A lot has happened to me in the last year, but I can’t remember most of it right off of the top of my head.
I did not get married like some of my friends did. I was the best man at my friend’s wedding, though.
I still have my job at the newspaper. I’m still in the sports department, which is why I have not made a commitment to post to this site regularly. I won’t, either. I wish I could write for fun more so I am going to try. I’m also going to try to read more.
I started reading some Mark Twain. I read “An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge” the other day while I was hunting, and I looked at As I Lay Dying in the bookstore. I’ll probably get it soon.
I watched three movies during my time off for Christmas and New Years, which is three more movies than I’ve seen in six months.
I’ve been sitting on the porch more to relax. It’s helped being outside and looking at the stars. If you haven’t taken the time to look up there’s a lot of them up there. Sometimes it makes you feel really small to see them all, but somehow it makes you feel better too.
This year has started pretty well, and I’m looking forward to what the rest of it brings.
